Addressing Issues with CDEC

Dear Editor, Please consider this letter to reply to Ruben Sandoval concerning the practice of Continental Divide voting procedures for electing Trustees. I do recall seeing Mr. Sandoval's name on the ballot twice, so this procedure is working. As for the members that have served on this membership council, I respect and appreciate their commitment to the community for this long, and the result of their decisions that affect the operation and performance of this utility. By establishing mail in voting, I see no proof that will increase the participation of membership to establish a qualified quorum.

The most serious comments that Mr. Sandoval has made are a real issue for me. As I have mentioned previously, I have the highest regard for the board members who have committed to saving our community for so long and being able to see the improvements in the community.

However, I know for a fact that Alex Griego had full intentions of resigning his position upon moving to Rio Rancho, which he has done.

Secondly, to ask the government officials to secure the ballot box is insulting and offensive to me because of the false accusations regarding dishonesty and corruption by this company and especially its fine employees.

The leader and the people of this company have shown and established very high standards of operation, community relationships and community support, such as offering higher education opportunities for employees and providing scholarship to Cooperative members.

Throughout Mr. Sandoval's letter are some very disconcerting comments. Instead, I wish he would have brought forth some constructive suggestions. R. McDonald
