Mea culpas?

Dear editor,

At the last Council meeting I demanded an apology be made to the City’s employees (and voters) for having created a hostile work environment for us, the employees. But alas, none has been forth coming.

Many of you may not be aware of the juvenile games being orchestrated by three City Councilors and their coconspirators. Their goal is, and has been, to extract revenge upon the Mayor for his belligerence toward their lust for power and control.

This evil cabal’s timing and actions are suggestive of collusion between them and one or more employees in the police department. How better to bring the Mayor to his knees than to disrupt his executive direction of the City by firing the City Manager. It must have seemed like a slam dunk, the manager being an at will employee would have no right to question the Council’s action and they would win points in the gotcha game. However, being an at will employee does not license a conspiracy to maliciously terminate one’s employment! Look up “misfeasance” in a dictionary, many government officials have been removed from office for misfeasance! Who wants to be next?

If one employee can be used as a pawn in these power games, no employee is safe! Don’t kid yourselves, we’re all at risk! While we may not be fired outright there are a hundred and one ways for the unscrupulous to make one want to seek employment elsewhere. The definition of this is “a hostile work environment” which, by the way, is illegal!

Where are the Resignations?
