The new norm: ... Hopes!

We made it through this Christmas, and it was different.

Evelyn and I did not have granddaughters here to laugh and giggle and guess what was in each one's gifts or ask for more hot chocolate or biscochitos. The magic Christmas tree stood guard over the nativity set to its left and Duke Marie slept cozily on his blanket while we watched Christmas movies and heard orchestra performances.

We had hoped the pandemic would be over months ago and we would have a normal so to speak Christmas with our family. We had hoped!

We had hoped for car shows and parades and family trips this year with the little girls and friends. We had hoped!

We were gladdened by the announcement of a vaccine that we along with the world had hoped for. And we have registered for vaccination with the N.M. Dept. of Health to schedule us.

For all the hopes that got squashed this year we are still okay and look forward anxiously to next year to return to a somewhat normal social routine and seeing more people and more often. We hope!

As 2020 ends this week and 2021 begins it means a New Year with new challenges and dreams. We are thankful for everyone who has contributed to our wellbeing. We remind each other that we can't let this year's events diminish our dreams and next year's hopes!
