Fall Sports Moving Closer to Districts

The cool crisp mornings bring us closer to Fall weather— that also brings the high school sports teams across the county closer to district play. The Grants High School football team is currently 3-3 on a bye week and will face the 24 Taos Tigers this Friday on the road in their final non-district game. The Pirates are second in district 4A 3/5 just behind the 5-1 Silver Colts and just ahead of the 3-3 Valencia Jaguars. St. Pius rounds out the district at 2-4.

The lady Pirates volleyball team at 6-6 is currently 3rd in district 4A-5 and have a couple of matches to play before district play begins. The Valencia Jaguars are at the top of the district with a record of 7-5 with the lady Eagles of Belen just behind them in second place in the district with a record of 6-6. St. Pius at 5-6 are third in the district followed by Highlands High School with a 1-8 record.

The GHS boys soccer team is 1-11 and lost their first district game recently by a score of 11-1 to the powerhouse of the St. Pius Sartans (10-2,2-0) who are the number 1 team in District 5.

The Pirates are currently 3rd in the 5-team district just behind the 93, 1-0 Highland Hornets, ahead of the 1-4, 0-2 Belen Eagles and 5-4-1, 0-0 Valencia Jaguars.

The lady Pirates soccer team is currently 0-81 and are 4th out of 5 teams in their district 4A5. St. Pius at 8-5,2-0 is at the top of that district followed by the Belen Eagles at 4-9,101, Highland Hornets at 7-5,1-1 and coming in 5th is Valencia High School at 3-6,0-0.

The Laguna-Acoma Hawks football team are currently 2-4 and 3rd in district 2A-1/2/5. Leading in that district are the 6-1 Santa Rosa Lions followed by the 5-1 Mc-Curdy Bobcats and coming in 4th in the district are the Escalante Lobos at 2-5. The Hawks will start district play on Friday, October 6th against the Escalante Lobos at home.

The lady Hawks volleyball team are 6-3 and on top of their district followed by Rehoboth Chrstian at 5-6, Dulce at 5-8 and Navajo Pine at 2-10. They have 4 non district games before they start their district games.
