An empty ore haul truck operated by Hammon Trucking overturned Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 160 near Black Mesa, Ariz., on the Navajo Nation. The truck was traveling from Energy Fuels' White Mesa Mill in Utah to the Pinyon Plain uranium mine near Grand Canyon National Park. It is believed that heavy rainfall and flooding on the roadway contributed to the accident.

BLACK MESA, Ariz. – A uranium ore transport truck operated by Hammon Trucking overturned Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 160 near Kayenta on the Navajo Nation. The truck was empty at the time of the accident.

Legislators Examine Uranium Projects in Cibola Amid Federal Push

GRANTS, N.M. — The Radioactive and Hazardous Materials Committee of the New Mexico Legislature held a public hearing at New Mexico State University–Grants on July 11 to review the status of uranium mining across the state, with a focused discussion on proposed projects in Cibola County.
