GRANTS, N.M. – Feeding the underprivileged students in Cibola County is a primary mission of the Grants-Milan Rotary Club. The backpack program fills the backpacks of underprivileged students with non-perishable foods. Across Cibola County, many students only eat at school. With the Rotary Club’s backpack program, students can take some food home for the weekend.

Being a nonprofit, the Rotary Club sources donations from across Cibola County, and holds fundraisers to raise money to support the backpack program.

The Bowl-A-Thon was held on March 12. There were 12 teams that competed, three of them coming from the Grants/Cibola County School District. The teams were:

Ladies of the 80’s I

Ladies of the 80’s II

Let’s Get Physical

NMSA-Grants

Ed Corley Ford

Tom Fitzsimmons – State Farm

According to Grants-Milan Rotary Club President Thomas Whelan, hundreds of dollars were donated to support the cause from individuals and entities across Cibola County.
