November 29 National Forest Offices Closed Visitor services at the Supervisor’s Office and district offices of the Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands will be closed on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, during an employee training event. In-person and telephone services will be unavailable. Regular business hours will resume on Thursday, November 30. The Forest apologizes for any inconvenience. Music Appreciation

“The Sound of an Orchestra” will explain that the duty of the orchestra is to reproduce the faithfully the notes and instruction of the composer. The DVD will be shown this Friday, November 24, at 4 p.m. in the Double Six Gallery on Route 66 /1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.

Grants City Council Meeting

The Grants City Council meeting will take place at 6 p.m., Nov. 29 in the City Hall Council Chambers, 600 W. Santa Fe Ave in Grants, Agendas will be available Nov. Nov. 27 at City Hall.

December Free Classical Music Appreciation

Mark these Friday dates for December’s Concerts for young people and the youngat- heart: Dec. 1, 8, and 15. Time is 4 p.m. and the place is the Double Six Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W.. Santa Fe Ave. Leonard Bernstein teachers and audiences with the assistance of the New York Philharmonic.

December 2 Free Youth Art Camp Christmas art camp invites 6–12-year-olds to the Double Six Gallery this Saturday, December 2, at 2 p.m. for candle making. Join others and learn to make a unique gift for a loved one. Gallery is on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.

December 3 Art Camp for Kids

The Double Six Art Gallery hosts the last art camp of the year, Saturday, December 3. Roject is treasure boxes. Maybe your box could become a family treasure? Maybe you could give it to your best friend? Ah! The possibilities. Time is 2 p.m., location is Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.

GCCS Board Meeting The Grants Cibola County School Board will hold an in-person meeting on Tuesday, December 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the GCCs Central Office Board Room.

Miner’s Day Celebration The New Mexico Mining Museum at 100 Iron Avenue in Grants is celebrating National Miners Day on Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 9 am to 5 pm. In honor of the special day, the museum is offering free refreshments and tours to everyone, especially miners and their loved ones.

December 9 Free Movie – ‘Babette’s Feast” The smells of cooking fill homes with anticipation this time of year. Get into the mood by watching “Babette’s Feast”, Saturday, December 9 in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Showtime is 11 a.m. Cooking is an art too.

Free Winter Concert

December 20 Free Movie – “Rabbit Proof” Movie-goers travel to Australia in “Rabbit Proof Fence”, Saturday, December 20 in the Double Six Gallery, beginning at 11 a.m. Although three young girls are put into a distant boarding school, they are determined to escape and go home! All cultures value HOME. Let’s gather and honor home through a film.

Here is a peek at some of the movies scheduled to be shown at the Double Six Gallery in 2024: “CODA” (Child of Deaf Adults), “Green Book”, “Spotlight, “The King’s Speech”, and “The Departed”. All selected films have earned Academy Awards for Best Picture.
