Road Closure, City of Grants: There will be a road closure of Iron Ave. from Warren to Santa Fe Ave., including the Iron/High St. intersection, starting on Monday, February 19th, 2024 for 2 to 3 weeks for utility work. Residents of Iron and Hill St. will have access from Warren Ave. Please contact the City of Grants Special Projects office at 505-290-3722 for more information.

February 14 Happy Valentine’s Day from the Cibola Citizen Ash Wednesday Service

February 16 Concert for ALL

This Friday’s “Concert for All” features more young musicians playing with the New York Philharmonic under the direction of Leonard Bernstein. This DVD begins at 4 p.m. in the Double Six Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe. Program lasts one hour.

February 17 41st Annual Mount Taylor Quadrathlon The 41st Annual Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon will take place Saturday, February 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will impact road closures and delays on the following streets: High Street, First Street (8 – 8:30 a.m. only), Second Street, Roosevelt Avenue, Lobo Canyon Road. Extended Double Six Gallery Hours Due to out-of-town guests and participants in the February 17 Quad, the Double Six Gallery will offer expanded business hours Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy the Quad!

More, young, musical performers will be featured with the New York Philharmonic via DVD, Friday, February 23 at 4 p.m. in the Double Six Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Conductor – teacher Leonard Bernstein hosts this concert for ALL.

February 24 Free Art Camps

Art camp for ALL is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Learn the Turkish art of macrame and make a bracelet. Myriah Scarpati-Graham will be available to help participants. The arts are for everyone.

March Free Movies in Cibola this March March brings three movies to the Double Six Gallery and ALL are Academy Award winners of Picture of the Year. Movies are always free and snacks are available to the community. Films are “Green Book” – March 2, and the second is “Moonlight” – March 16, and “Spotlight” – March 30. The arts are for EVERYONE!

Free Movie – Green Book If you attend “Green Book” Saturday, March 2m you’ll hear piano prodigy, Don Shirley, play “I Can’t Get Started”, “Blue Moon”, and “Lullaby of Birdland”. The Double Six Gallery is on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. This movie was named Best Picture in 2018.

The Academy Awards ceremony is a major event, viewed by millions. Notable hosts have included Bob Hope, Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal. This is the 97th year and it will be aired Sunday, March 10 on ABC. Movie lovers will be watching enjoying. Will you?

Daylight Savings Time Starts Starting at 2 a.m. on March 10, the clocks will “spring forward” by one hour.

Every Saturday Grants Library - Chess Night at the Library Weekly on Saturdays at 1:00PM at the Grants Public Library. Join us to enjoy a friendly game of Chess. Open to all skill levels. If you've never played but would like to learn we have a chess guy who can teach you. Its FREE and open to all ages. You're welcome to bring your own board if you'd prefer but not to worry, we have some too.
