Free Movies

School resumes next month in Grants. Education is valued by people in all countries. The Double Six Art Gallery’s film series includes one set in England and one in New York City. First up is “Goodbye, Mr. Chips” followed by “The Blackboard Jungle.” Movies are shown at 2 p.m. on Saturdays – August 13 and 27. Both films are in the public domain which means they can be shown without a license. The arts are for everyone!

Coffee With the Managers

Come meet the City of Grants, Village of Milan, and Cibola County managers for coffee. This is a forum where community members can hear updates from the managers and get their questions answered directly from the managers. Come to the Coyote Del Malpais Golf Course at 2001 George Hanosh Boulevard in Grants, N.M. at 8 a.m.

Free Movie – “Goodbye Mr. Chips” British actress Greer Garson has name recognition in New Mexico. A Santa Fe theater bears her name. She made her film debut in “Goodbye, Mr. Chips”. She went on to star in “Ms. Miniver”, “Pride and Prejudice”, “Julius Cesar”, “That Forsyte Woman”, “Sunrise at Campbello”, etc. In “Goodbye, Mr. Chips” she portrays a warmhearted, outgoing character who draws out a shy schoolmaster. We welcome you to the Double Six Art Gallery on Saturday, August 13 for a 2 p.m. showing.

Movie goers will be taken into a New York City inner-city school next month. This is the second back-to-school themed movie. In August. “The Blackboard Jungle” is the first film to feature rock music – Bill Haley’s “Rock around the Clock”. The movie is on Saturday, August 27, and the time is 2 p.m. Place – the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66. The arts are for everyone!
