October 12 Special City Council Meeting The City of Grants will be conducting a Special City Council Meeting at the Cibola Senior Citizens Center, 550 Jurassic Court, Grants. Meeting to start at 6 p.m.

October 15 Art Gallery Youth Activity What will be the year’s most popular Halloween mask? In the past, movie characters, politicians and monsters were the biggies. Maybe, homemade masks will be popular. Join mask artists at the Double Six Art Gallery on Saturday, October 15 at 1 p.m. and create your own. Unleash your inner artist and create a unique face cover. Gallery is on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Remember – Halloween is coming and the arts are for everyone!

October 22 Free Movie – “The Invisible Man” An innocent, British, country village is the setting for the classic thriller “The Invisible Man”. The movie is based on the H.G. Wells novel of the same name. The movie fantasy stats Claude Rains. American actor Walter Brennan of tv series “The Real McCoy’s”, is a character whose bicycle is stolen. Movie day is Saturday, October 22 at 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Movie shown at Ms. Lezlie Smith’s discretion. The arts are for everyone!

October 29 Free Make-Up Presentation Make-up can disguise or enhance a face; actors use it to help define a character. GHS Advanced Drama students know the importance of it. Join them on Saturday, October 29 at 2 p.m. for a demonstration about make-up at the Double Six Art Gallery, located on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Makeup: a necessity in drama!

November 12 Free Decorating Activity Peanut butter, chocolate chip and sugar – these are popular American cookies. Sugar cookies are the focus on a decorating activity held on Saturday, November 12, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Young cookie decorators are welcome to express their artistry.

November 19 Free movie – “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” Who am I? I’m a Presbyterian minister; I play piano loudly when angry; I wear sweaters my wife makes; I have friends: Lady Aberlin, King Friday and Mr. McFeely; I hosted a tv program for children that ran for many years. The film “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” will be shown Saturday, November 19 at the Double Six Art Gallery as part of the Thanksgiving Holiday. You can’t go wrong in the presence of Mr. Fred Rogers. Movie shown at Ms. Lezlie Smith’s discretion.

NWNMSWA accepts Recyclables The Northwest New Mexico Solid Waste Authority accepts Number 1 and 2 plastic, paper, and cardboard. Locations include Smith’s grocery, Roosevelt Avenue, Grants; John Brooks Supermarket, Highway 66, Milan; and Milan Transfer Station, 2305 W. Highway 66, Milan.
