November 16 Grants Recreation Board Meeting

The Grants Recreation Board will meet at 6 p.m., November 16, in the City Hall Council Chambers, 600 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Agendas will be available Nov. 10.

November 19 Free movie – “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”

In “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”, journalist Lloyd Vogel is pessimistic about his past and his assignment to interview tv personality, Fred Rogers. The two men strike up a friendship that alters Lloyd’s life. Movie will be shown this Saturday, November 19 at 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery, located on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue. This is a welcome Thanksgiving story. Movie shown at Ms. Lezlie Smith’s discretion.

Guided Hike to Lobo Canyon Petroglyphs

Join a BLM Park Ranger for a guided hike to Lobo Canyon Petroglyphs site in Cebolla Canyon. Petroglyphs are a part of Native Americans living culture. It reminds them of who they are and where they come from. Where? Meet at La Ventana Natural Arch Parking Area off Highway 117 (Take Exit 89, South on Highway 117 from I-40, it’s about 18 miles to La Ventana Arch) at 10 a.m. and we will caravan to Lobo Canyon Petroglyphs trailhead. Program will last about two hours. It’s an easy hike with a short and steep arroyo crossing to get to the Petroglyphs site. Bring water, hiking sticks, snacks, or sack lunch. November 23 Regular Grants City Council Work Session

The regular city council work session is scheduled for Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. in the city hall council chambers, 600 W. Santa Fe Ave. Agendas will be available November 18.

November 24 Senior Citizens Advisory Board Meeting

The Cibola Senior Citizens Advisory Council will meet at 2 p.m. on November 24 at the Senior Citizens Center, 550 Jurassic Court, Grants. Agendas will be available on Nov. 9.

November 26 Free String Art Activity

Spools of thread and needles have given us a history of beautiful artwork, in all cultures. Young artists in this area will practice thread, string, or yarn art at the Double Six Art Gallery, Nov. 26 beginning at 2 p.m. Donations are welcome so a supply can be built. Gallery location is Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue.

Interpretive-Guided Hike: A Journey into the Past

Join a BLM Park Ranger for a guided hike to Dittert Site within Bureau of Land Management National Conservation area (BLM NCA). Dittert Site is an ancient Pueblo settlement location in Armijo Canyon. The program will last about two to three hours. It is an easy hike, about half a mile round trip, but a steep arroyo crossing to get to Dittert Site. The elevation is about 7,284 feet. Bring water, hiking sticks, snacks, or sack lunch. Participants should wear comfortable hiking boots, wear weather appropriate clothing. Where? Meet at La Ventana Natural Arch parking area off Highway 117 (take exit 89, South of Highway 117 from I-40 it’s about 18 miles to La Ventana Arch) at 9:30 a.m. and we will caravan to Dittert Site.
