December 22 Grants Lodger’s Tax Board

The Lodger’s Tax Board will meet at 9 a.m. on Dec. 22 in the City Hall Council Chambers, 600 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Agendas will be available Dec. 19 at city hall.

January 14 Free Movie – “Some Like it Hot”

Marilyn Monroe loved to sing. She said, “Singing makes me a lot less nervous than acting.” In the classic, comedy film, “Some Like it Hot”, MM is a singer with an all-girl band. She enjoyed practicing the song “I wanna be loved by you”. Join movie fans Saturday, January 14 at 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Acting, singing and laughing – a good ratio.

January 21 Free Art Activity

January 28 Free movie – “Bringing Up Baby”

David Huxley (Corey Grant) gets mixed up with Susan Vance (Katherine Hepburn) in “Bringing Up Baby”, a screwball comedy. Baby is Susan’s pet leopard. One of the fastest and funniest films ever made, this comedy will be shown Saturday, January 28 at 2 p.m. The Double Six Art Gallery, on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Movie shown at Ms. Lezlie Smith’s discretion.

January 19 Grants/Cibola County Schools Free Developmental Screening

If you suspect your child has learning concerns or issues, including giftedness, and you would like to have your child’s skills screened, please call Desiraye Lopez 285-2643 to make an appointment. The screenings will be conducted on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Special Education Complex 402 North 2nd Street from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Due to COVID 19, no walkins at this time, please make an appointment. All screenings are free. Parents will be informed of screening results at the conclusion of the screening session. The screening will be conducted by a team of G/CCS employees. Ages 3-21 years old can participate.

February 4 Free Art Camp

Billie Holiday was a legendary blues singer. Diana Ross is a legendary rock singer. She was part of the girl trio, “The Supremes”. In “Lady Sings the Blues” Ms. Ross earned accolades.
