February 11 Free Movie – “Lady Sings the Blues”

Singer/Composer Billie Holiday died at 44 years old. She out-lived the following musical artists: Patsy Cline, 30; Karen Carpenter, 32; Sam Cooke, 33; and Bob Marley, 36. The movie “Lady Sings the Blues” will feature Holiday’s songs this Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. No admission fees. Popcorn, candy and drinks are available.

February 13 Grants Library Board Meeting The Grants Library Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Grants Public Library. 1101 N. First Street. Agendas will be available on Feb. 10.

February 15 Grants Recreation Board The Grants Recreation Board will meet at 6 p.m. on Feb. 15 in the City Hall Council Chambers 600 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Agendas will be available Feb. 10 at City Hall.

February 16 Regular Village of Milan Meeting The Village of Milan Board of Trustees will have their regular meeting on Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at 623 Uranium Ave.

February 18 10th Annual Mt. Taylor Kids Quad Cibola County Complex 500 W. High St. Grants, N.M. Registration is in person and same day. All racers will receive a finisher's medal for completing the race! T-shirts will be given on a first come, first serve basis. First place in each age group wins a new bike. Cost is $10 per child.

GHS Anchors Club Spring Blood Drive

February 24 Vegetative Management Training The Lava Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor a Vegetative Management Training Course on Friday, Feb. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Coyote Del Malpais Golf Course. February 25 Free Movie – “The Help” As long as there are humans, there will likely be racism. The movie “The Help” takes movie-goers back to the 60s in Mississippi. Meet wise, caring, funny women who participate in a secret project that reveals racism in their community. The project affects many. Movie date is Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Movie time is 2 p.m.

March 11 Free Movie – “Selena” “Glamorous”, “Regal”, “athletic”, “dazzling”, “likable”, “ageless” and “optimistic” are words used to describe Cuban-American, acress/singer, Jennifer Lopez. Lopez starred in the ’97 movie “Selena”, two years after the death of the Queen of Tejano. The film “Selena”, will be shown at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 11 in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.

March 25 Free Movie – “The Quiet Man”

My name Marion Michael Morrison. I was born in Iowa, but because I was sickly, the family moved to the Mojave Desert and I began school in Lancaster, California. In high school, I played sports and was on the debate team. I invite movie fans to discover to discover who I am by attending a film on Saturday, March 25 at 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.

Late actress Anne Baxter and her Australian husband owned and managed a sheep ranch south of Grants during the 40s. the Double Six Art Gallery will show two Baxter films in April. April 1 Village of Milan Eastern Festival

The Village of Milan is hosting their annual Easter Egg hunt on Saturday April 1st, 2023. Kearns Park 1500 Stanley Road. Prize Games, Food Trucks, Free Games.
