August Free Movies PSA

Time change! Time change! Movies at the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 now begin at 11 a.m. on alternate Saturdays. Everything else is the same. Hope to see you for “To Sir, With Love” and “A Beautiful Mind” this month. The arts are for EVERYONE!

“An American in Paris,” “Spanish Rhapsody,” and “New World Symphony” are among selections played by the NY Philharmonic in this Friday’s Bernstein’s concert at the Double Six Art Gallery. Time is 4 p.m. and venue is on Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave. Begin the weekend with music.

August 12 Free Movie - “To Sir, With Love” Actor Sidney Poitier was born weighing three pounds and not expected to live. In ’22, he died at age 95. This Saturday, the Double Six Art Gallery will show “To Sir, With Love”; in which Poitier portrays a high school teacher in a London, inner-city school. Showtime is 11 a.m. The venue is on Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave.

The History of San Rafael

In the spirit of something to do in Grants, the Cibola County History Museum is hosting Antonio Trujillo, presenting the History of San Rafael. Join us on Saturday, August 12 at 2 p.m. at 525 West High Street. Admission is free. There will be refreshments. Everyone is welcome. We hope to have a houseful!

August 16 Classes at St. Teresa Inquiry Class for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults and children at St. Teresa Catholic Church Wednesday August 16 at 7 p.m. This class is for anyone interested in learning more about Jesus and how to receive forgiveness and Grace through the Sacramental life of His Church.

August 25 Call for Written Art School begins. What feelings, thoughts, reactions, or emotions does school cause? Write a song, a piece of poetry, a story or create a drawing that expresses you. Students, mothers, fathers, and teachers – all can take part. How about submitting you work to Double Six Art Gallery? Don’t wish you had done this – do it! Location is Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave. Deadline is August 25.

August 26 Free Movie – “A Beautiful Mind” New Zealand-born actor, Russell Crowe, is described “excellent” in his starring role as brilliant mathematician, John Nash. The movie is “A Brilliant Mind.” The venue is the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave. The time is 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 26. See you at the movie!

September Movies in September In support of the Rugged West celebration in September, the Double Six Art Gallery will show the movies “Little Big Man” and “Lone Star.” Dates are September 9 and 23. Time 11 a.m. Venue is the gallery on Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave. The arts are for EVERYONE!

September 9 Movie “Little Big Man” “Little Big Man” in a filmization of Thomas Berger’s novel about Jack Crabb, a 121-year-old, who reminisces about his Wild-West life and times.
