GRANTS, N.M. - There are four programs that are undergoing or have undergone registration recently that are being facilitated by the City of Grants Recreation Department. Those programs are the Youth Summer Program, Youth Football, Adult Slow Pitch Softball, and Youth Tennis Camp. Flyers featuring information regarding these programs have been circulating around social media and have been posted on the Cibola County Community Awareness Facebook page for the public.

The 2021 Summer Program is associated with Future Foundations Family Center and will involve many fun activities for children ages 6 through 12. Some of these activities include water fun, sports, arts and crafts, movies, wheel riding, cooking, and so on. Registration for this program began on May 3 and was $25 per child per session, which there are two of. Session 1 began June 1 and will last through June 30; meanwhile, Session 2 will start July 6 and go till July 30. Times for the program will be Mondays through Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. COVID safe protocols and guidelines will be followed in order to offer these activities safely.

The Adult Slow Pitch Softball program has registration set for May 3 to June 11. The actual season lasts from June through August and involves two main groups: the men’s group and the co-ed group. The cost is also $25 per player. For the men’s group, teams must have a minimum of nine players paid for at the time of the roster submission, and for the co-ed group, the teams must have a minimum of ten players – five being men, five being women – paid for at the time of roster submission. This is a popular program that often receives support from family members who attend the games at Wells Park.

The Youth Football program is currently holding registration for the program to begin in the Fall of this year. The program will consist of both tackle football and flag football. Costs for the tackle football before July 9 are $40 per player and $50 per player after July 9. The cost for the flag football is simply $20 per player. Divisions for the program include 6-8 years old for flag, 8 and 9 years old for tackle, and 10-12 years old for tackle. The age cutoff is September 1, according to the online flyer. Birth certificates are required for registration, and the dead line to register is August 6. The football games will be held in both Grants, NM and Gallup, NM.

Finally, the Youth Tennis Camp will also include two sessions. Session 1 will be from June 7 to June 24, and Session 2 will be July 6 to July 22.
