COMMUNITYALERT Road Closure, City of Grants: There will be a road closure of Iron Ave. from Warren to Santa Fe Ave., including the Iron/High St. intersection, starting on Monday, February 19th, 2024 for 2 to 3 weeks for utility work. Residents of Iron and Hill St. will have access from Warren Ave.

A couple of weeks ago, my wife Evelyn and I were reminiscing about last December’s “Brush Strokes of Christmas Magic” children’s window painting program and the joy it brought to both the community and the children involved. We smiled as we talked of the lives and hearts that were touched by it.

A Valentine Day event that shows how the Cibola Arts Council cares about their community was the Valentine’s Peg-Board activity on Friday, February 9. Participant, Brendan Rodarte, worked on his peg-board to see if he could do a good job.

Have you seen a field of lavender and smelled its fragrance in the air? It is a memory that can bring the sensations of summer to the coldest winter day. Lavender is a tough, drought tolerant plant and should grow well here but I, along with a number of other people have failed at this simple task.

This handsome guy is Water. He is a 2-year-old, neutered, terrier mix. He loves people and running in the play yards. He likes to give hugs and get treats.
