GRANTS, NM — The Board of Directors at Cibola General Hospital (CGH) has announced that Thomas Whelan is no longer serving as the CEO of Cibola General Hospital, departing after eight years of service. The Board of Directors appreciates Thom's contributions during his tenure and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
Our Chief Nursing Officer, Maria Atencio will be serving as Interim CEO. “Maria has been with our hospital for nearly 40 years and has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership. Dr. Dimitt, our current Chief of staff, will support Maria in overseeing the clinics and addressing other organizational needs,” said CGH Board President Eileen Chavez-Yarborough. “CGH is committed to providing high quality patient care and healthcare access to the residents of Cibola County and the surrounding communities. We are confident in the hospital’s leadership to guide us through this transitional period and will start searching for a permanent executive immediately.”
