It’s a crisp evening, the sun is setting on the west horizon, and the marquee of the Double 6 Gallery tells you that there is an art show happening. You read, “Expression of Veterans” - Art inspired by service. You enter the threshold of the building and ordained on the walls and stands are frames, canvas, pottery, and sculptures exemplifying themes of war, companionship, and overall service. You sign in the guest book and allow the savory smell of dinner to usher you to your seat. Grants MainStreet Project is working in tandem with the Cibola Arts Council to exemplify veterans in our area through an art show and dinner coined “Expression of Veterans”. The event is a fundraiser to the Grants MainStreet Project for continued revitalization work in its district. Additionally, we want to show veterans how special they are, and how their experiences have paved the way for our society to prosper and grow. The event will exhibit and auction pieces submitted by veterans and highlight veteran-owned small businesses in the Grants-Milan area. Tickets to the dinner and show are being sold online at the Grants MainStreet website (url below) and at the Grants MainStreet office (address below) for $30/each.
The show will accept pieces until the last Wednesday of the event November 9, 2022. If you’d like to be involved or have questions about the event you can contact the executive director of Grants MainStreet at the information below. We hope you attend and are moved by the experiences displayed by our veterans through art.
