Fire Ban Notice

Due to extreme drought conditions and excessive state wildfires, a fire ban is hereby instituted for Acoma Pueblo. This ban is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.

Prohibited Activities: -Open burning of any kind, including campfires, bonfires, and trash burning.

-Use of fireworks. -Outdoor cooking with charcoal or wood.

-Use of open flame devices such as torches or welding equipment without a permit.

-No flame of any kind.

-No engines in backcountry or traveling on unpaved roads until further notice.

-No use of chainsaws or any tools that provide a spark.

Permitted Activities:

Use of gas or propane grills for cooking, provided they have a shut-off valve and are used in an area clear of flammable vegetation and materials.

-Indoor fireplaces and wood stoves, provided they are equipped with a proper spark arrestor.

This ban is instituted to ensure the safety of our community and to protect further strain on our emergency services. All residents and visitors are urged to comply with this ban and to exercise extreme caution in all activities that could potentially cause a fire.

Violations of this fire ban may result in penalties, including fines and other legal actions.
