Several Projects Are Near Completion
Body

City of Grants Projects Director Nadine Jiron update meeting took place on March 20. She discussed the near completion and significant progress that each of the ongoing projects has made.

The City of Grants is currently juggling several major infrastructure projects. From road work to a new pilot’s lounge at the Grants-Milan Municipal Airport, and the near completion of the arena at the Grants Rodeo Grounds, the City has been moving full steam ahead.

Arena

The multi-purpose arena, a project which has been in progress for many months, is very close to completion.

The sanitation line on Canyon Road has been installed and the ADA parking lot, as of March 20, was being paved. Concrete is to be poured on the manhole and the Continental Divide electric company will be dropping the main power to the electrical panel soon. The wire fence that will be between Swale and the north end of the Cow Palace is to be worked on at the end of this week and finished by the beginning of next week.

Airport

The airport hangar and pilots lounge has been another project that has been worked on for months.

In the pilots lounge, the sheetrock has been completed. The rest of the material must be added to the exterior and the sidewalk has been poured.

The hangar has been constructed, with the door waiting to be installed.

Second Street The Second Street Shared Loop is nearly finished.

The asphalt has been poured and the trail complete. On March 10 the concrete was being poured on the switchbacks and the rails were being installed. The posts are in place and once the entirety of the rails are finished, they will be painted.

I-40 Waterline The rock excavation and borrow import is in place. This excavation has met challenges, with there being many rocks causing this to take a little bit longer than hoped. The 12-inch line was being installed. The Zuni Canyon Road bore pit was coming to an end.

Washington Avenue

The Washington Avenue water/wastewater phase II & III is a work in progress. The milling from Jefferson to Anderman has been completed and the potholes are in progress.

Jefferson Street to Smith Road is closed. Mesa View students pickup is going to continue being from Anderman, Smith, to Truman. According to the principle of Mesa View, this new route has been going smoothly.

Everyone is asked to obey the traffic rules, signs, and detours.

The next update meeting will take place on April 4th at city hall or can be watched on Facebook. Everyone is welcome to these meeting and anyone with questions or comments can reach out to the special projects manager Nadine Jiron or the special projects office.
