GRANTS, NM – A man identified as Christian Gino Chavez, 22, was taken into custody on charges of disorderly conduct following an incident at Sunray Apartments on Lobo Canyon Road. The arrest occurred on March 8, around 3:13 p.m.

Police Officer Todd Garcia, responding to reports from Cibola Regional Communications Center, arrived at the apartments to find Chavez, reportedly highly intoxicated, banging on a door. Witnesses heard the commotion and alerted authorities.

Upon arrival, Officer Garcia encountered Chavez, who exhibited signs of intoxication, including red, bloodshot eyes and a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. Chavez admitted to consuming a significant amount of alcohol, allegedly stating he had consumed fifteen to sixteen Bud Light beers.

After speaking with Chavez, Officer Garcia determined that Chavez had been in a dispute with his relative, who had allowed him to stay the night. Chavez had stepped out of the apartment, returning after an undisclosed amount of time. Upon his return, later that evening, the relative asked him to leave after he returned intoxicated.

Following the investigation, Officer Garcia placed Chavez under arrest and transported him to Cibola General Hospital for a medical clearance before further incarceration at Core Civic.

Chavez faces charges of drunk or disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. The incident involved no injuries, and no weapons were reported.

The arrest was conducted by the Grants Police Department, with assistance from Cibola Regional Communications Center and Cibola General Hospital.
