Roadwork, Closures Expected on BIA Routes Near Ramah

Body

RAMAH, N.M. — Motorists traveling through portions of the Ramah Navajo community should prepare for road closures and delays over the next several weeks as road improvement projects get underway.

The Ramah Navajo Police Department announced that work is taking place on BIA Route 195 in the Unit 5 area and BIA Route 125 near the Candy Kitchen area.

Drivers may encounter road closures, lane restrictions and detours while crews are working. Motorists are being asked to allow additional travel time, use alternate routes when possible and follow posted traffic signs and directions from flaggers.

Specific dates and times for individual closures were not included in the Sept. 11 notice.

The department said the work is intended to improve road safety and is weather-dependent, meaning construction schedules and traffic restrictions could change.

Additional changes or updates will be announced through the Ramah Navajo Chapter, according to the police department.

Motorists traveling through the affected areas should use caution around construction crews and equipment and be prepared for changing traffic conditions.
