Shooting leaves one dead

GRANTS, N.M. – In the morning of January 21, a shooting in Grants, New Mexico, led to the death of one man, and the arrest of Bradley Hickson, 61, of Grants.

Details in this incident remain scarce as the shooting is under investigation by police. According to Interim Chief Jeff Marez of Grants Police Department, GPD is working very closely and cooperatively with the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. People charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law. Charges are merely alleged unless a conviction is acquired.

The initial charge Hickson faced was Attempt To Commit A Felony (Murder). Officers responded to the scene of the shooting quickly, and had the victim transported to Cibola General Hospital by way of ambulance. The male victim was later airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he died as a result of the shooting. According to Interim Chief Marez, the charges against Hickson will be changed accordingly as more information is received. Hickson remains in custody at the Cibola County Correctional Center in Milan, New Mexico.
