The Walker Agency, LLC is hosting receptions at both their Farmington and Grants offices in celebration of completing forty years as an independent insurance agency. The reception is planned Wednesday, July 17, at their Grants office (123 N. First Street) and on Thursday, July 18, at the firm’s headquarters in Farmington (1501 San Juan Blvd., Ste 201) both between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The Walker Agency, LLC, is a family owned and operated independent insurance agency offering all lines of personal and commercial insurance. Linda Walker launched the firm from scratch in 1984 in Aztec and moved the growing operations to Farmington in 1993. Ten years later, in 2003, the Grants location was established.

“We owe our success to our customers and the communities we serve” Linda Walker says on the company’s website (www.walker-insuranceagency. com), “alongside passionate, hardworking agents who are dedicated to providing the best service available in the most professional manner.”

“The insurance industry has changed dramatically from what it was when we started the agency in 1984” Walker says. “We’ve gone from handwritten applications and typewritten, 3-part forms, to tower PC’s and dot matrix printers, now we’re using desktop, laptop, and tablet PC’s and laser printers. Instead of reams and reams of paper files” she continues, “we now store and access customer information and policies online, with the ability to almost instantly open and deliver policy information anywhere in the world. At times,” she adds, “the changes have been almost breathtaking.”

The Walker Agency, LLC is one of only a small number of fully locally owned and operated insurance agencies in San Juan and Cibola counties and is a point of pride for Linda Walker and her husband, Jerry (a retired association executive from the community banking industry in New Mexico and former state representative).

“Our business model,” Jerry Walker says, “hasn’t changed much in the past forty years. As small businesspeople we have always had a desire to serve the small business community.” He adds, “While the super large accounts are sought and fought for by the larger regional and national brokers and agencies, we have been comfortable seeking businesses in the middle tiers that sometimes are overlooked. These, along with a strong base of personal insurance clients, are our bread and butter.”
