ALBUQUERQUE — Laguna Burger, the Cibola County favorite from the Pueblo of Laguna, will compete in the Original Green Chile Cheeseburger Challenge at the New Mexico State Fair on Monday, Sept. 8 at noon on Main Street (just north of Heritage Ave.).
Nine restaurants from across the state will battle for two honors: a blindjudged award and the People’s Choice award.
According to fair organizers, People’s Choice ballots are limited to 100. The New Mexico Department of Agriculture, with help from State Police, will hand out 300 envelopes to hopeful fairgoers; 100 include a “golden ticket” redeemable for a wristband and ballot (the other 200 contain assorted prizes). To judge, you must have both a wristband and a ballot—arrive early.
The 2025 New Mexico State Fair runs Sept. 4–14.
