Dear editor, Good news for anyone endlessly waiting for a doctor's appointment! If we cannot get scheduled within a short time at Cibola Family Health, there is now a computerized call list for people to replace those who have canceled. If we call to see a clinician and nothing is available, when someone cancels after our call, a staff member from CFH will notify us to schedule an appointment in place of the cancellation.
This will not only help us as patients, it will also increase the financial health of our hospital.

Responsibilities
To the Editor, Celebrating the 250th anniversary of our country, we can finally escape the confusion and burdensome responsibility of democracy; it’s time to learn to relax and enjoy ourselves. Sure, we have to make some sacrifices but so have citizens of klepto-autocracies throughout history. That doesn’t mean we can’t have a good time. After all, there are so many things we no longer have to concern ourselves with: caring for neighbors, critical thinking, wrestling with moral questions of right and wrong. As Machiavelli said, “in a corrupt society, success can only be achieved by immoral means.” Embrace it. In the case of our particular community, we have a leg up. For generations, since the development of uranium and private prisons, we’ve been mercenary to the billionaire class. It’s time to teach our children and grandchildren the secret to happiness: low expectations. We’re used to selling out. Forget home ownership, public safety, education and health care. Unlike our sociopathic leaders, you’re not burdened with the hard work of world domination. You should be thankful that local slumlords (you know who you are) bother to rent to you at all. You’ve got an excellent, simple healthcare plan: avoid injury and don’t get sick. By doing away with regulations on corporations, we free up money for muchneeded ballrooms and other monuments to our liberator. After all, we don’t have to pay for them. The corporations (two-thirds of which have government contracts and more than half are facing business violations) are generous enough to step up on our behalf to foot the bill-which is no more impactful for them than taking in-laws out to lunch. Don, King of Orange, and Leon Skum flip through the “souls for sale” section of the want ads and are making a killing, buying low, selling high. Personal integrity requires too much work. Church leaders are doing their part, keeping their mouths shut and not get us all stirred up and anxious about the true meaning of Christ’s life. It’s a great time to be an American. Relax. Enjoy Greenland.

Changes Coming
Dear editor, For years, the Grants Lodgers Tax Board has been very generous to certain 501c’s while turning others down and allowing money to be spent on trips abroad to well-known politicians and their wife’s with promises to bring back business that ended up in Las Cruces, NM. One 501c has been banking a balance online at the New Mexico Attorney General's Office for years around $118K every year and continues to get about $20k every year from the board. Cibola Citizen reported rules tightening up for lodger taxes “Awards should not be used for salaries, wages, benefits, utilities, insurance, rent, office supplies, routine maintenance, or general overhead. The city also listed entertainment, prizes, gifts, alcohol, and costs not directly connected to advertising and promotion as ineligible.”
Guess that means no more trips, the question is why were the rules not followed then? Of course, the possible closing of Core Civic with impact presented to local officials described losses “projecting $20.4 million in total eco nomic loss, including $16 million in direct annual pay roll and $4.42 million in multiplier effects. The same model projected a $18.86 million reduction in economic output from 180 full time job losses and 44.45 induced full-time equivalent job losses beyond direct facility positions. My grandfather Hosa Dean Hall who homesteaded a ranch in Quemado, NM used to say no sense closing the corral gate now the horse already got OUT! But do not worry, our state representatives are going to make sure there is “funding support for counties most impacted if detention contracts are lost.” Cibola But are not sure “specifically who would qualify for funding, what spending would be covered, and whether counties could interpret the funding language too broadly. Rep. Nathan Small asked whether the amendment could function like a ‘blank check’ if counties expanded spending and later sought reimbursement.”
I updated my subscription today to Cibola Citizen online and have papers being delivered to my home do not want them to close too like the Independent. I spend $1.5K in restaurants and groceries a month. Core Civic lays of 180 people at half that amount of food comes out to $135,750 a month. No matter how many letters I write to my State & Federal Representatives it is ignored. Election coming VOTE Republican kick the DEMOCRATS OUT!
