The Cibola Citizen Wants to Hear From You

Body

The Cibola Citizen is inviting members of our community to share their voices, ideas, artwork and perspectives with our readers.

We believe a local newspaper should reflect the community it serves. That means making room not only for news, but for the thoughts, concerns, creativity and lived experiences of the people who call Cibola County home.

We are seeking guest opinion columns, letters, local essays, community reflections, artwork and comics from local residents. Submissions may cover a wide range of topics, including local issues, education, culture, history, family, faith, public policy, community life, the arts, agriculture, veterans’ issues, youth perspectives and more.

You do not have to be a professional writer or artist to submit. You only need something thoughtful to say or share.

Written guest columns and opinion submissions should generally be between 400 and 1,000 words. Shorter letters may also be considered.

Because the Cibola Citizen maintains a clear separation between community commentary and campaign activity, we will not accept guest opinion columns from individuals who are currently running for public office. Candidates, campaigns and political advocacy organizations may contact the advertising department about paid political advertising.

All submissions are subject to review and editing for clarity, length, grammar, accuracy and newspaper style. Submission does not guarantee publication.

To be considered, submissions must follow these basic guidelines:

• Submissions must include the writer’s full name, hometown or community, and a phone number for verification. Phone numbers will not be published.

• Opinion pieces should focus on issues, ideas or experiences rather than personal attacks.

• We will not publish defamatory statements, unverified accusations, threats, hate speech, plagiarism or content that invades someone’s privacy.

• Claims of fact should be accurate and, when appropriate, supported by sources or firsthand knowledge.

• Writers are responsible for the opinions they express.

• The Cibola Citizen reserves the right to decline any submission or request revisions before publication.

• Local artwork and comics should be submitted in a clear digital format, along with the artist’s name, community and a brief description of the piece.

Our goal is simple: to give more space to local voices and local talent. Cibola County has stories, ideas and creativity worth sharing, and we want the newspaper to be one place where that work can be seen.

Submissions may be emailed to editor@cibolacitizen. com and ads@cibolacitizen. com.

Please include “Guest Opinion Submission,” “Letter to the Editor,” “Local Art Submission” or “Comic Submission” in the subject line.
