Vaccine rollout

Dear Editor;

Although everyone is happy to see the vaccines arrival and begin the process of getting back to normal, I am alarmed with the speed, or lack thereof, of getting shots into arms. The delay can be laid squarely at the feet of the outgoing administration.

Having had multiple chances to adequately fund state and local governments to administer tests to slow the spread of the COVID pandemic, they are now blaming states for the delays that they built into the system through delays at the Senate level. House Democrats passed multiple pieces of legislation to provide much needed infusions to the entities tasked with slowing and now ending the crisis. The decision to hold any legislation by the majority leader unless the President would sign it was not in the best interests of the nation as a whole.

To find out who has the country as a whole as thein top priority I suggest we look to the incoming team of Biden and Harris to break the logjam with commonsense. We can only hope the inability to coordinate the vaccine rollout can be overcome in time to mitigate the continuing issues separating us from effective responses. Urge your representatives to pass standalone bills sending funds to local authorities who will be responsible for you getting the shot that may save your life.
