Stabbing in Milan

Body

MILAN, N.M. – Russel Avenue in Milan, New Mexico, saw a series of flashing emergency lights during the evening of Jan. 16. Around 7:35 p.m. Cibola Regional Dispatch received a call from an injured man who said he was at home when an attacker stabbed him several times and the attacker was still in the house. Peacefully settling the situation, Milan Police Department arrested Dino Harrison on charges of aggravated battery. The victim survived the altercation after being treated by staff at Milan Fire Department, Superior Ambulance, and Cibola General Hospital.

After the call came in, Milan Police Department went straight to work. A team of three Milan police officers breached the home and were able to apprehend the suspect, identified as Dino Harrison of Milan, without further incident. Upon entry, law enforcement noticed the victim, with lacerations to his head and torso.

Milan Fire and Superior Ambulance tended to the victim and transported him to Cibola General Hospital. Sergeant Joe Galindo of MPD said that the altercation was not a random act of violence, and that the suspect, Harrison, was drinking alcohol when the alleged stabbing occurred.

Sgt. Galindo said Milan Police Department acquired a search warrant and was able to recover the knife allegedly used by Harrison during the stabbing. So far, MPD has charged Harrison with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon; and Aggravated Battery with Intent to Commit a Violent Felony. All of these charges are third degree felonies. MPD is working with the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to see if other charges can stick. In the United States Judicial System, all people are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Milan Police Department is actively investigating this case.
