SANTA FE, NM – On January 20, Cibola County Probate Judge Marie Garcia and the whole county were honored with a Worker’s Compensation Award during the New Mexico Counties Legislative Conference.
Cibola County won a number of awards at this conference. See next week’s edition of the Cibola Citizen for a complete rundown of the awards.
According to Susan D. Mayes, Administrative Services Director at New Mexico Counties, “These counties achieved a positive claim trend, and the lowest frequency of workers’compensation claims for 2022. The awards, based on the number of employees, are divided into five divisions. Each winning county received a $7,000 contribution refund.”
Cibola County was in Division 2, the county earned the honorable mention. Winning the safety award in Division 2 was Hidalgo County, this was their first safety award.

Division 1: Union County, this was their sixth safety award.
Honorable Mention: Harding County Division 3: McKinley County, this is their ninth safety award.
Honorable Mention: Rio Arriba County
Division 4: Lee County, this is their third safety award.
