Intoxicated Woman Arrested After Disturbance in Grants

GRANTS, NM – On September 3, an intoxicated woman, identified as Lisa Sandoval, caused a disturbance at a local residence on Iron Street in Grants, leading to her arrest by the Grants Police Department.

The incident occurred around 3:46 p.m. at 310 Iron St., where police were summoned following reports of an intoxicated individual banging on the doors. The call to dispatch was made by one of the people inside the house that was being knocked on. A police report claims two women were inside the house, both were found standing outside the residence upon the officer's arrival.

The woman, identified as Sandoval by the police, was spotted on the stairs of the trailer, wearing all black. Despite repeated warnings from GPD officers to leave the property, Sandoval resisted. Officers then intervened, securing Sandoval with handcuffs after she allegedly displayed signs of resistance. During the arrest, a strong scent of alcohol was evident from Sandoval.

Backup arrived shortly after in the form of a female police officer who, according to the police reported conducted a search of Sandoval before she was detained.

As per protocol, according to the police report, Sandoval was transported to Cibola General Hospital for a medical examination before her incarceration. There, she was cleared for detention. However, during the booking process at The City of Grants Police Department, Sandoval reported experiencing anxiety. As a precaution, medical staff from Superior Ambulance and Grants Fire & Rescue were called to evaluate her. The report states they found no immediate concerns.

Following the assessment, Sandoval was transported to Core Civic Detention Center for incarceration. Witnesses at the scene, Edmondson and Trujillo, were asked to provide written statements about the incident.
