Saturday Clean Up Offers Chance to Help Neighbors
Dear Editor
The City of Grants has a Fall and a Spring cleanup every year. During this time roll-offs are placed around the City for residents to fill with trash, weeds, junk and rubbish. Over the past couple of cleanups our roll-offs haven't been getting filled and we have fewer residents participating. We invite the students of the High School and Middle Schools to get out this coming Saturday and participate in our Fall Cleanup! We ask Church groups and other volunteer groups to please come and show your pride in our beautiful City!
If you can't participate on Saturday, spend a couple of hours this week and find a project that will benefit our community. Remember the old saying, 'From small things proceedeth that which is great.'
Earlier this week I was dealing with an empty property that had very tall weeds. Someone had come by my office to complain about them and because I had been working on it, I became a little discouraged. Later that day, I had an impression to go by that property. When I did, I was shocked and delighted to find that someone had gone by and cut down all the weeds and discarded them properly!
We can use this cleanup to help an elderly neighbor with their yard, or a single mother that is working hard to just keep her family going. When we reach out to our neighbors and offer our hand of friendship and give service, we are elevating our community to a higher level.
