My name is Steve Brown and I’m the Head Football Coach at Grants High School. I wanted to write this letter to express my extreme gratitude for the support from our community that we received this season. It was truly humbling to see how community members, businesses and school administration stepped in to help with whatever we needed and a lot of times didn’t even have to be asked. To our Advertising sign sponsors that purchased the right to have their businesses advertised at each home game, not only from our community but from Albuquerque as well. Too many to list here for fear that I may miss someone but to each of them I say THANK YOU so much for your support.
I also want to thank the folks that provided donations for our Fundraiser Corn Hole Tournament. So many donated some amazing gifts for the winners of the tourney. Thanks to Joaquin Jiron for organizing the event and getting the teams to come out and support our cause. It was a very successful event and again, is very much appreciated by all of us in the program.
To everyone that supported us through our FanCloth fundraiser! You spent your hard earned money to not only represent your Pirate Pride but to ultimately support our program and I am very grateful. Thank You!
Next I want to thank all of the Parents. First for trusting me and the staff with your kids. It’s never easy for a parent to do that. Thank you for believing that we truly have your kids best interest at heart and for knowing that while they are in our care and even when not, we love them like our own and only want the best for all of them. For those that got involved with helping us throughout the season. Everything from providing cases of water and Gatorade during the hot summer months to make sure our kids stayed hydrated and for all of the meals provided for breakfast and lunch during twoa- days and the Angry Jack Summer Camp as well as the food provided for road games to make sure our kids had something to eat on the bus or before the game. You have no idea how amazing that was and how much we appreciate it. For all of the pregame team dinners that were organized and served so that our kids could enjoy a fantastic meal and creating lasting memories shared with their brothers and sisters in the program.
To all of our Team meeting, Guest Speakers. The messages you shared with our kids we all inspiring and thought provoking! I know the kids enjoyed them all and learned from them, things they will never forget. I truly appreciate all of you. You came from right here in town and as far away as Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Alamogordo just to spend a few minutes with our kids because it was important to you to share your message and for that I am sincerely thankful.
To Pizza 9 for volunteering to host our Playoff game team dinner. It was awesome to see the joy on the kids’ faces knowing that they were special and that they were being treated as such. Thank you very much.
A big THANK YOU to our fans! Thanks for your enthusiastic support at our home games and even more for those of you who traveled with us! It was awesome to see so many familiar faces in the visiting stands when we were on the road! It truly means a lot to me to know that the support of our fans was so strong all season!
To our administration! Stevy Elkins, Reyes Jaramillo, Herman Young and all of the faculty at Grants High School! Thank you so much for your unwavering support! Every time a simple comment like “hey great game coach” or “hey coach, the kids looked amazing out there” was said to me, I got chills.
To the coaching staff, THANKS fellas! You will never truly know how grateful I am for you guys! You are truly the reason for our success. Your preparation and commitment to our kids is AWESOME and I would not choose to do this with any other staff. The best in the state in my opinion! And to the coach’s wives and girlfriends. Thanks for sharing these guys with me. Only you understand the sacrifices made by a coach’s family and I will eternally grateful for your sacrifice to let these men do what we love!
And finally, to the kids! Thank you for an amazing season! You definitely rose to another level and continually gave our school and our community a reason to be proud and walk a little taller every day. Thank you all for allowing me the honor and the privilege of being “Your Coach”. I am absolutely humbled by your commitment to the Angry Jack Way. Your effort and willingness to always work to get better, that’s what it’s all about. Be better today than we were yesterday, on and off the field.
I know that I may have missed someone in these words and If so, I apologize, but know that I am also grateful for you. You all were instrumental in the success of our season. We still have a long way to go to get to where we want to be, but I’m confident that with your continued support we will get there! Again, THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!
