On February 12, 2024, in the early afternoon, Cibola County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a deceased subject in Mt. Taylor addition.
The victim was identified as Rocky Colburn Sr., a 65-year-old resident of Cibola County. Patrol deputies found the death to be suspicious and contacted Sheriff Investigators who then initiated a homicide investigation.
During the investigation Search warrants and interviews were conducted and quickly identified a person of interest as Rocky Colburn Jr., a 31year-old resident of Cibola County and the victim’s son.
An arrest warrant was secured for Rocky Colburn Jr., and he was then arrested and charged with first degree murder after being in the Mt. Taylor addition area.
