On April 19 at 9 am, the Easter “Hop n’ Shop” event took place, drawing people of all ages to search for the eggs in businesses along Main-Street. Participants sought out businesses displaying a “Special Event” sign, leading them to hidden eggs filled with different prizes. Each egg contained different goodies, including chocolates, colorful trinkets, cash prizes, and other treasures. The highlight of the day was the grand prize egg, which had a generous reward of $100.
Many participating businesses added to the event by offering special discounts, making the shopping experience even more exciting and rewarding. MainStreet Director Denise Hanson encouraged attendees, stating, “It’s all about celebrating [and] creating a lovely atmosphere, and continuing to build on the momentum of community-driven events that help our businesses thrive.”
“We’re beyond grateful to our amazing small businesses for opening their doors and bringing the charm, and to our dedicated volunteers who helped bring this event to life — we couldn’t have done it without you!
Together, we’re building a vibrant and welcoming MainStreet for all. Until next time...

The Hop n’ Shop event serves as a time for residents and visitors to visit Santa Fe Avenue, discovering a variety of stores, restaurants, and service providers along the way. By showcasing a variety of local businesses, it not only generates excitement but also significantly boosts local sales, which in turn supports small businesses in the community.
This year, over ten businesses participated in the event, which includes the MainStreet, New Mexico Mining Museum, Cibola Historic Society, Lange Insurance, Enchanted 66, Aarons, World Finance, the 1912 Market on 66, Custom Etching & Gifts, Loeffler’s Guns, Double 6 Gallery, and Five 22 Boutique.
According to Hanson, “The first-ever Hop & Shop was created in response to enthusiastic feedback from both our MainStreet District small business owners and the local community. After the success of events like the Cookie Crawl and Mosey on MainStreet, it was clear—our community loves these interactive, family-friendly shopping experiences!”
The popularity of these events showcases a growing appreciation for local commerce and a collective desire to strengthen community bonds. This lively community event not only brings joy through an engaging egg hunt but also fosters connections among the residents and visitors of Grants.
It emphasizes the importance of supporting local businesses, ensuring that the character and charm of the MainStreet District continue to flourish. As families filled their baskets with goodies and memories, it became evident that the spirit of community was alive and well, making the Hop n’ Shop an anticipated event.
