Josephine Corrine Vaisa, age 65, a resident of Grants, N.M., passed away on December 6, 2022, in her home peacefully. After a long illness she fought bravely. She was surrounded by her loved ones and fur babies.
Josephine was born in Detroit, MI o July 18,1957. Although she travelled and lived many places, she planted her roots in Grants, N.M. She was a graduate of New Mexico State University, earning a bachelors degree in criminal justice. While she had many achievements, her ultimate passion in life was to help and understand people. She was an educator at NMSU as well as an instructor at Western New Mexico Facility.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and she touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was a huge animal lover and was especially close with her babies, sugar and daisy. She loved spending time at the ocean and said it was her happy place. She was a very special person and will be missed dearly.
Josephine is proceeded in death by her parents: Bennie and Eufemia Maynard.
She is survived by her loving children, daughters: Eufemia Marie Sanchez and husband Peter Sanchez, Cynthia Darquese Delima, Rita Vanessa Salazar and husband Reyes Salazar, all of Grants. Son: Joseph Anthony Salazar, Jr. and Wife Monica Salazar of Albuquerque; sisters: Judith Carpenter, and Monica Escobar.
Pallbearers will be Peter Sanchez Jr., Reyes Salazar, Eric Martinez, Ivan B. Garcia, and Gabriel Salazar. Honorary pallbearers will be Emilio Martinez, Alonso Salazar, Vincent Varela and Cody Varela, Ivan D. Garcia.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Milan, N.M. Her services will be held at First Baptist Church of Grants located at 224 Mountain Road on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11 a.m.
