June 25, 1939 – May 16, 2022
Rosemary True was born in St Louis and lived there until she was 10. Her family moved to Temple, Texas, when her father, an electrical engineer, began working for the city power plant.
When she was 15, her father started working at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, and the family moved to Waukegan, IL, just north of Chicago. After graduating from high school, she began nurse’s training in Chicago. She met her husband, Horace Gray, in Chicago, and they moved to Many Farms, Arizona where he worked as a librarian in the high school, and Rosemary took care of several small children in their home.
After Horace's death in 1990, she moved to Chinle, AZ, and worked as a high school substitute teacher. She moved to Grants in the early 2000’s and for 10 years delivered newspapers to homes outside of town. In the last few years, she became a foster grandma in the elementary school in Grants, a job she loved very much.
She also was active in the United Methodist Church and loved to sing in the choir.
She is survived by a sister: Holly Alexander of Citrus Springs, FL; and brothers: Jerry True of Jensen Beach, FL, and Jeff True of Rogers, AR.
A memorial will be held for Rosemary at Grants' First United Methodist Church, Friday, June 3 at 11 a.m. Rosemary loved her dogs, and donations may be made in her honor to an animal rescue group (RezDawgRescue.com is active in the Grants area – contact msclairebear78@gmail.com for more information).
