Dear editor, I had the opportunity to participate with the Milan Spring Cleanup this past weekend. There was an amazing turn-out for this event! The Mayor, some Village Trustees, and other employees showed up to work hard and make a difference in their community! We had three community service workers that cleaned up ten bags of trash at Petro. I learned that Denice Baca, Village of Milan Clerk, received a very prestigious award from the State of New Mexico, naming her Clerk of the Year! This qualifies Denice to have a chance at being named Clerk of the Year for the whole United States of America. This is a huge honor that brings positive notice to the Village of Milan and Cibola County!

The City of Grants will be hosting Worldwide Youth Day of Service on Saturday, April 27, 2024, starting at 8 am in front of the Grants City Hall. We have youth coming from Gallup to help us with this cleanup day. We would encourage everyone to come out and contribute some time to cleanup up our beautiful City. I receive lots of calls from different people complaining about trash here, or trash there. But rarely do I see these individuals come out to be a solution to the problem. The city goes to great expense to place trash rolloffs around the City. In the last couple of years, we have not been filling these trash roll-offs. If you can't participate between 8am and noon on Saturday, the trash roll-offs are set out on Friday afternoon. Waste Management usually picks up the roll-offs between 10:30 am and 11 am on Saturday. Please do what you can to participate in this cleanup. Cleaner cities are safer cities. See you there!
