Diego Lopez, Editor SANTA FE, N.M. – Grants High School students in the school’s MESA program traveled to Santa Fe on Jan. 22 to participate in “MESA Day at the Roundhouse,” an event that brought students into the New Mexico State Capitol to learn about state government and meet with legislators, according to information provided by Grants-Cibola County Schools.
According to information from GCCS, during the visit, students toured the Capitol and observed the legislative environment firsthand. GCCS said the experience emphasized the link between STEM education and civic leadership, giving students an opportunity to see how policy decisions are made at the state level.
District officials credited the trip to the leadership of Mr. Areil Ora, sponsor of the Grants High School MESA program, for organizing opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
