    Students Join Former Pros for All-Star Football Camp at GHS

    Students from across Cibola County gathered at Grants High School earlier this month for the football portion of the 22nd Annual DYFL All-Star Weekend, hosted by the Grants/Milan Rotary Foundation.

    The camp featured drills, scrimmages, and training sessions on the field, led by former NFL quarterback Ty Detmer alongside Rodney Rice, Jeff Badet, and Bene Benwikere. Local high school athletes also took part in guiding younger participants through exercises and activities throughout the day.

    The weekend event was part of a larger fundraiser to support the Rotary Foundation’s Backpack for Kids Program, which provides students with food to take home on Fridays. The program serves children who may not have consistent access to meals over the weekend.

    The All-Star Weekend also included clinics in basketball, volleyball, tennis, and baseball, as well as a community dinner and golf tournament at Coyote Del Malpais.
