Four Men Faint from Hunger Strike at CCCC

MILAN, N.M. – Despite representatives from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and representatives from CoreCivic saying that there is no hunger strike at the Cibola County Correctional Center in Milan, four of the striking men are said to have recently fainted from lack of food.

Successes in Cibola County Schools

GRANTS, N.M.- The Regular School Board Meeting on November 15 began with Superintendent Max Perez acknowledging security guards at the schools. He stated that they have been receiving many compliments on the work that they do, making students and staff feel safe.

Cibola Drought Monitor – November Update

Drought conditions appear to be improving in Cibola, but the truth is that the conditions are slowly worsening once again. Through the month of October, drought conditions worsened across the county, a worsening that was stalled thanks to significant precipitation across the month.
Larry Diaz was officially sworn in as Cibola County’s next sheriff on November 17. He was surrounded by family as Probate Judge Marie Garcia read his oath of office. The Cibola County Board of Commissioners stood near and watched as their next sheriff took his oath. Canvassing Votes and Cibola County’s New Sheriff

GRANTS, N.M. – On November 17, the Cibola County Board of Commissioners held two meetings. The first was a special meeting at 4 p.m. to canvass the results of the 2022 general election and appoint a sheriff. They voted to become a Canvassing Board and were given the numbers.

MILAN, N.M.– The Cibola County Correctional Center is once again in hot water for the alleged mistreatment of immigrant detainees. CCCC is a facility which houses local Cibola County inmates, US Marshal Service inmates, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement inmates.
