GRANTS, N.M. – The annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is going to be held July 28 at the Grants Recreation Center. A trophy travels the county to various departments that win the battle.

200 Deaths from COVID-19 in Cibola

COVID-19 continues its slow grind through Cibola County, and the rest of the world. In Cibola, 200 residents have now died from COVID-19. 8,130 positive tests have been recorded in Cibola since the beginning of the pandemic in early March 2020.

SANTA FE, N.M. – Most of what a now-deceased victim told a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) may be used as evidence in a trial without violating the defendant’s constitutional right to confront witnesses against him, the state Supreme Court ruled today.

New Mexico Supreme Court Issues Opinion Allowing for Admissibility of Sexual Assault Victim’s Statements

ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas announced today that the New Mexico Supreme Court issued an opinion in State v. Oliver Tsosie, which will allow the admission at trial of most of the now-deceased sexual assault victim’s statements to a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE).
