COMMUNITYALERT Road Closure, City of Grants: There will be a road closure of Iron Ave. from Warren to Santa Fe Ave., including the Iron/High St. intersection, starting on Monday, February 19th, 2024 for 2 to 3 weeks for utility work. Residents of Iron and Hill St. will have access from Warren Ave. Please contact the City of Grants Special Projects office at 505-290-3722 for more information.

March Free Movies in Cibola this March

March brings three movies to the Double Six Gallery and ALL are Academy Award winners of Picture of the Year. Movies are always free and snacks are available to the community. Films are “Green Book” – March 2, and the second is “Moonlight” – March 16, and “Spotlight” – March 30. The arts are for EVERYONE!

Free Art Camps for ALL March offers two art camps for all. The first is the 9th; the second , the 23rd. Venus is Double Six Gallery and time is 2 p.m. – location is Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Myriah Scarpati-Grham is the facilitator. Children must be accompanied by adults. Call 287-7311 for details.

March 1 In “The Road to Paris” Leonard Bernstein discusses three composers – Geroge Gershwin, Ernest Bloch and Manuel de Falla – who lived and worked in Paris. This DVD program will be shown this Friday, the 1st, at 4 p.m. in the Double Six Gallery on Route 66 - 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Let music begin your weekend.

March 2 Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet Join the Grants Cibola County Chamber of Commerce as we celebrate the businesses and residents of Cibola County. We start at 6 p.m. on March 2 at the Cow Palace, 223 Betty Drive, Grants. This will be a great night, be sure to join us!

Free Movie – Green Book Double Six Gallery’s first March movie is the Academy Award winners as Best Picture in 2018, “Green Book.” This Saturday at 1 p.m., movie fans will watch Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen in a true story about the friendship that results after a trip into the Deep South, set in the 60’s.

March 9 Free Art Camp – Shamrocks

March 9ths art camp at the Double Six Gallery will feature Ireland’s most iconic fairy – the Leprechaun. Join Myriah Scarpati-Graham and make your own little person, for Saint Patrick’s Day. Venue is on Route 66 - 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Time is 2 p.m. The arts are for EVERYONE!

Starting at 2 a.m. on March 10, the clocks will “spring forward” by one hour.

Academy Awards

The Academy Awards ceremony is a major event, viewed by millions. Notable hosts have included Bob Hope, Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal. This is the 97th year and it will be aired Sunday, March 10 on ABC. Movie lovers will be watching enjoying. Will you?

March 16 Free Movie – “Moonlight” The Academy Award winning film, “Moonlight” will be shown Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. in the Double Six Gallery. It may remind you about experiences you had as a you grew into adulthood. Location is Route 66 - 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.

March 23 Free Art Camp

Saturday, March 23 is the second art camp at the Double Six Gallery. Fun begins at 2 p.m. with facilitator Myriah Scarpati-Graham. Pom-pom shooters will be made. Don’t miss it! The venue is on Route 66 - 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.

March 30 Free Movie – “Oppenheimer”

“Oppenheimer”s coming! “Oppenheimer” s coming! Oppenheimer is coming to Grants! This highly-acclaimed movie will be streamed Saturday, March 30 in the Double Six Art Gallery. Film is 3 hours, 45 minutes long and bathrooms are close by. Film begins at 1 p.m. Venue is on Route 66 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.
