GRANTS, N.M. - The Nov. 3 Grants/Cibola County School District board meeting included an update on the 50-percent hybrid re-entry program.

Academic Director E. Renee Sanchez reported that district administrators are meeting regularly to share data, strategize, and build a structure through each school’s 90-day plan, which is designed to keep the level of academic focus high. The emphasis is on Standard Aligned goals; every teacher has been utilizing instruction to enhance inferencing, summarizing, and development of student academic skills.

The 90-day Plan has specific goals which include creating a core team, analysis of data and identifying goals, prioritization of performance challenges, conducting a Root Cause Analysis, and selecting focus areas.

Progress is monitored through 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews that evaluate progress and allow participants to discuss next steps.

All schools are focused on the standards; assessments are scheduled; and a collaborative structure is in place to expand leadership compacity.

Instructional coaches are using support systems to build instructional skills compacity and teachers are providing student instruction that is aligned to the standards.

Recognitions

Superintendent Max Perez complimented the teachers, principals, bus drivers, food service employees, and all G/CCSD staff for their dedicated teamwork. He thanked each school for demonstrating organized processes which enhance students’ and staff safety. These protocols were implemented districtwide in response to the current pandemic.
