A domestic disturbance call led Grants Police Department officers to 1209 N. Fourth Street in Grants, New Mexico, in the early hours of November 21, 2023.

At approximately 12:15 a.m., Officer Sami Sarracino, operating a fully marked patrol unit, arrived at the scene after being dispatched by the Cibola Regional Communications Center (CRCC). Sarracino, displaying his badge of office, encountered a man identified as Dustin Wolbert, who was sitting outside the residence. Wolbert admitted to having been drinking and appeared unsure why officers were called to the scene.

In response, Sarracino detained Wolbert for further investigation and placed him in the backseat of her marked police vehicle.

Upon speaking with Wolbert's girlfriend, a resident of the property, details emerged about the incident. The girlfriend told police that Wolbert had been drinking for most of the afternoon, consuming several miniatures of Fireball whiskey while sitting in a vehicle outside the residence. Later in the evening, Wolbert entered the house and began playing music loudly, disturbing the peace.

His girlfriend, along with another female resident, allegedly requested Wolbert to lower the volume due to their need for rest. According to the girlfriend, an altercation escalated when she retreated to the garage instead of helping Wolbert with a task inside the residence. In response to her absence, Wolbert attempted to forcibly enter the bathroom, resulting in damage to the bathroom door. Observing the damaged door, Officer Sarracino confirmed the girlfriend account.

The girlfriend further claimed that Wolbert pushed her chest, leaving visible red marks, according to the report. After retreating to her bedroom and shutting the door, Wolbert attempted to gain access again, causing additional damage to the door. Sarracino observed the damaged bedroom door during his investigation.

Although offered medical attention, the girlfriend declined multiple times. Sarracino also suggested that she consider filing for a restraining order.

Sarracino took Wolbert into custody and transported him to the Grants Police Department for processing before proceeding to Cibola General Hospital for a medical clearance. Following the medical evaluation, Wolbert was transported to CoreCivic for incarceration.

The incident is under investigation by the Grants Police Department, and Wolbert may face charges related to the disturbance and property damage.
