ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - October 25, 2021- AT&T New Mexico is pleased to announce that the AT&T Foundation has awarded New Mexico State University a $10,000 grant for scholarships for students at its campus in the City of Grants. The scholarships are for students pursuing an associate degree in creative media or certificate in game design.

The first of the $750 scholarships were awarded this fall semester.

“The creative media industry in New Mexico, particularly television and film production, is growing, and we believe students in all areas of the state should have access to educational opportunities to pursue these types of careers,” said AT&T New Mexico External Affairs Director Bob Digneo. “We hope that these scholarships will make it easier for NMSU Grants students to follow their dreams in creative media and game design.”

According to the New Mexico Film Office, our state has seen 50 film, television, and video game productions in 2021 which have employed thousands of New Mexicans.

“The rural isolation of Cibola County increases the obstacles to completing education and moving into the workforce at every level pre-K through college,” said Chavez-Toivanen NMSU Grants Vice President for Academic Affairs. “The AT&T scholarships help these students attend college full time so that they can complete creative media technology degrees within two years.”

"I had not applied for scholarships before this but receiving the AT&T scholarship will greatly assist me in my pursuit of my Certificate in Game Design and Associates in Creative Media,” said scholarship recipient Shawnea Delgarito. “The scholarship helps to relieve some of the financial stress of higher education on me and my family, allowing me to follow my dream of becoming a game developer!"
