CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – The Cibola County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people on Friday, July 8. The arrests came as part of a joint operation between CCSO and the Adult Probation and Parole Office’s Fugitive Apprehension Team to bring violators of the law to justice.

Cibola County Sheriff Tony Mace explained that the people arrested on July 9 were convicted in a court for committing a specific crime. There are different circumstances for every inmate, according to the sheriff, but these people were allowed to live outside the walls of a prison so long as they followed specific rules. The two arrested on July 9 violated the conditions of their probationary release.

The joint operation saw the arrest of two people, Jennica Gonzales of Grants and Wayne Edsitty of Milan. Gonzales is a 33- year-old who was convicted of stalking, Edsitty is a 40-year-old who was convicted for two counts of aggravated battery upon a police officer resulting in great bodily harm.

The joint operation had four intended targets, two of which were unable to be located. Because of the nature of the operation, CCSO will not be releasing the names of the two absconders who could not be found.

“We will continue to conduct operations [like this one] in an effort to help probation and parole gain compliance with offenders,” Sheriff Mace said. Operations similar to this one should be expected as CCSO continues their pursuit of keeping the criminal element at bay, according to the sheriff.
