A few decades ago, the Potters House Church started Children’s Church. The leader of Children’s Church began to have Christmas plays, which soon became a Christmas tradition. The first soloist they ever had in a play was an eight-year-old girl, who amazed the Children’s Church leader with her voice. Throughout the years they have written plays or bought plays. Their biggest musical was “Arch the Angel,” which had around forty kids participating. This tradition has continued to bring smiles to the kids participating and the people watching.

This year’s play “A Christmas Yarn” had nine children and four teenagers, being the least number of children in their play it delivered a great message. The play was about Sam, the owner of an ugly sweater business. She is so caught up with trying to get the big order ready that she forgets the real meaning of Christmas. She receives three visitors that each remind her of a part of the Christmas story. Marlo, Fuzzy, and Anna remind her it’s not about presents, but rather about celebrating our Saviors’ birth. For those who attended there was an ugly sweater contest and a traditional Christmas dinner. While many people get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we must remember that Christmas is really about Jesus being born, so that one day he could save us from our sins.
