Cibola County VINE System Back Online

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – The VINE victimnotification service connected to the Cibola County Detention Center is back online following a weeks-long technical outage, Cibola County Manager Kate Fletcher confirmed.

Asked for an update Wednesday morning, Fletcher told the Cibola Citizen, “Yes — it is up and running.”

The confirmation ends an outage that county officials said involved technical communication problems between the detention center’s inmate information system and VINE, or Victim Information and Notification Everyday.

VINE allows crime victims and members of the public to monitor an offender’s custody status and register for notifications about releases, transfers and other custody changes.

County officials previously said Equifax, which manages the VINE system, had been working to resolve interface and software-driver issues associated with the outage. Fletcher said earlier this month that the repair process had also been complicated by vendor turnover and problems involving replacement equipment.

The outage had prompted concerns from Cibola County resident Harry Hall and others about the availability of timely custody information for crime victims.

Fletcher previously told the Citizen that she had not received reports of any local victim being adversely affected by the outage.

As of Fletcher’s latest update, the VINE connection serving the Cibola County Detention Center has been restored.
