June 2 Free Concert

This Friday, June 2, Classical guitarist Nate Franklin, will fill the Double Six Art Gallery with a variety of musical selections. Concert begins at 6 p.m. Venue is Route 66/1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. There’s no admission fee and refreshments will be available. Let’s welcome Nate to Grants and appreciate his artistry!

20th Anniversary Ty Detmer Dinner

Come celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ty Detmer’s contributions to Grants and Milan at the La Ventana Steakhouse. This year, Grants-Milan Rotary Foundation is holding a celebratory dinner in honor of Ty Detmer’s 20th year of contributions to our community. The event starts with a cocktail hour from 6-7 p.m. Dinner and presentations are from 7-9 p.m. All proceeds go to the Grants-Milan Rotary Foundation’s backpack program. Ticket Prices*: Individual Tickets: $100 Couple’s tickets: $175 Table of 4: $300 *Dinner and one cocktail drink ticket is included. ARTISTS! “Flight” art is being submitted. Please Continue. Remember – you have until June 20. The Double Six Art Gallery, on Route 66, looks forward to your interpretations of this topic. If you have ideas for future exhibit themes, let us know.

July Free Movies in July Three military-themed movies will be shown at the Double Six Art Gallery in July. The offerings are “Born on the 4th of July”, “Raising Colors”, and “Glory”. Movies are scheduled for Saturdays at 2 p.m. Dates are July 1, 15, and 29.

July 1 Free Movie – Born on the Fourth of July Some of America’s most painful years occurred in the 60s. “Born of the Fourth of July” is the true story of one gung-ho recruit who came home after service in Vietnam, but he was a different man – in several ways. Movie is scheduled for Saturday, July 1 beginning at 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66.

Free Movie – “Raising Colors” “G.I. Jane” gets a French Twist in “Raising Colors,” a film set in France, featuring two French actors – Lambert Wilson and Diane Rouxel. Plot-line concerns a young woman determined to join the Navy. You get the idea. Show-time is 2 p.m., Saturday, July 15 at the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave.

July 29 Free Movie – “Glory” Based in part on the letters of a young, inexperienced Northerner, “Glory” tells the story of America’s first unit of black soldiers during the Civil War. Matthew Broderick portrays the officer chosen to train and lead them. “Glory” will be shown Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave.
